59 drivers caught racing at speeds over 90mph on A50 during police operation

All the drivers will be prosecuted, including one travelling at 111mph.

Police caught drivers motoring at speeds as high as 111mph during a speed enforcement operation yesterday.

They took to one of Stoke-on-Trent’s most major roads – the A50 – to catch out any speeding motorists.

Fifty-nine drivers were captured racing at speeds over 90mph, and all will be prosecuted.

The Staffordshire Police Tactical Support Team shared the news in a tweet this morning.

More speed enforcement will be carried out again today on major trunk roads, including the A38, which runs from Bodmin in Cornwall to Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, but we don’t yet know when the next operation in Staffordshire will be.

Officers said the focus on speeding comes ‘due to excess speeds and recent accidents’.
